This Research Minute is the third in a series related to financial wellness.

Background:

Last week, the Research Minute evaluated employee priorities across financial wellness services and solutions. This week, we explore how workers prefer to receive these services and solutions. This research is based on employee survey data, which assessed 2,500 workers’ perspectives on workplace financial wellness programs.

Findings:

As shown in the chart below, older generations favor one-on-one meetings, webinars, and online articles, while younger generations prefer mobile apps, chat features, online tools, and interactive solutions. Some gender differences were observed, with 46% of women favoring one-on-one meetings, compared to 39% of men.

How Would You Prefer to Receive Financial Wellness Services?
Bottom Line:

Ongoing expansion of financial wellness programs is crucial for engaging employees. Offering diverse support options for content and delivery is essential, and data shows that the more personal and direct the sharing of information is, the more effective it will be. Future research could examine generational financial wellness preferences and changes in preferred content and delivery across life stages.
